speech team

The CJI Speech & Drama Team traveled to Shelby today and competed in the Shelby Invitational. The Hawks were missing several team members today but still managed an impressive showing. Here are the results:

Seniors Martin Fulbright and Levi Overlie led the way for the Hawks today. Martin competed for the first time in Extemporaneous Speaking and claimed first place for the Hawks. Levi performed his dramatic interpretation of Edgar Allen Poe's Tell Tale Heart and finished first place in one of the largest events at the meet.

Junior Harman Maan finished third place in Informative Speaking with her speech about Dissociative Identity Disorder and Demonic Possession.

Junior Tara Case finished fourth place in Humorous Oral Interpretation with her piece about a teenage girl whose mother is teaching her how to drive.

Junior Davey Erickson took fourth place in Original Oratory with her speech about the importance of libraries.

As a team, the CJI Hawks claimed a third place finish in Class C Speech. In fact, the Hawks scored more points than all the Class A and Class B Speech teams with enrollments far higher than CJI. The only two teams with more points were second place Fort Benton and first place Simms.

The Hawks next travel to Malta on January 20th to compete in the Northern B/C Divisional Tournament. The top 6 finishers in each event at the Northern B/C Divisional Tournament will qualify for the State B/C Tournament in Choteau on January 26-27
