The CJI Speech & Drama Team traveled to Malta today for the 2023-2024 Northern B/C Divisional Tournament. The Hawks brought seven competitors to the meet and all seven team members placed in the top 8 of their events. In addition, six of the seven Hawks qualified for the state tournament next weekend in Choteau. Competitors had to place in the top six of their events to qualify for the State B/C Speech and Drama Meet.

Here are the results for the Hawks:

Senior Martin Fulbright led the way for the Hawks claiming the championship in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Senior Levi Overlie claimed a second-place medal with his performances in Dramatic Oral Interpretation.

Junior Tara Case also claimed a second-place medal for the Hawks with her performance in Humorous Oral Interpretation.

Junior Davey Erickson placed third place in Original Oratory.

Junior Harman Maan took third place in Informative Speaking.

Freshman Trent Fulbright placed fifth place in Spontaneous Oral Interpretation.

Sophomore Saige Bachteler finished eighth place in Dramatic Oral Interpretation.

As a team, the CJI Hawks claimed first place in Class C Speech. The Hawks scored 45 points besting Simms by a single point. All seven Hawks contributed points towards the first-place trophy. It was the first time since the online season in 2020-2021 that the Hawks claimed the first place trophy.

The Hawks next travel to Choteau for the 2023-2024 B/C State Tournament on January 26-27th.
