State Speech and Drama Meet Results: 01-31-2026
In Drama, junior Trent Fulbright and 8th grader, Jonathan Waters-Serrato claimed the State championship in Classical Theatre with their interpretation of Who's on First by Abbott and Costello. The CJI Drama Team took home the 3rd place trophy.
CJI Coach Ronda Lynn Petersen was nominated for Class C Drama Coach of the Year. Congratulations on a great season!

Chester, MT 1.19.2026 – The CJI FFA Greenhouse Project is pleased to announce it has been awarded $3000 through AgWest Farm Credit’s Rural Community Grant program. The CJI Agriculture department is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
Funding for the Greenhouse Project will create a meaningful impact on the local community by offering students hands-on, experiential learning opportunities that strengthen critical skills, expand knowledge of food systems, and support the growth and sustainability of the FFA program.
In support of the project, superintendent Haggerty shares "The greenhouse project will have a huge impact on student learning at CJI, as it will give students more hands-on learning opportunities. This project compliments CJI's mission of preparing students to be successful in any avenue they pursue upon graduation, and we are grateful to everyone who has helped make this project possible!"
AgWest’s Rural Community Grants provide funds to non-profit organizations for projects that improve rural communities within Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. This includes efforts such as building or improving facilities; purchasing necessary equipment to facilitate a local program; and funding capital improvements which enhance a community’s infrastructure, viability and prosperity.

As a reminder, during the first week of school (August 18th-21st) students who miss school to help with harvest are still eligible to attend extracurricular practice. Students who miss during the first week are still expected to complete the work that they miss while absent. Starting August 25th, students who miss school for harvest will still be academically excused, but will not be eligible to practice. If you plan on utilizing these harvest excused absences, please contact Mr. Haggerty or Mrs. Grammar so we can let teachers know. As always, please contact the school if you have any questions or concerns. We ask that students check Google Classroom to keep up on their assignments and have contact with their teachers. We are excited to have students back on Monday- It's a great time to be a Hawk!

Three Town Hall Meetings will be held on April 22-23, 2025, to discuss the Proposed Gym Floor Levy. The public meetings will be held at the Joplin Hall on the 22nd of April (7:00-8:00 PM), and on the 23rd of April, at the Senior Center (12:30-1:30 PM) and in the CJI Gym (6:00-7:00 PM). Students and the administration will be discussing budgeting, floor design, the reasons we would like a new floor, and budget videos. All meetings will cover the same information.
